I always mean to post more French House / Nu Disco than I do, so I’m going to try to catch up on that over the next few days. The first track I want to share with you today was sent to use from UK record label La Bombe, and it’s sexy, fun and danceable. Surrender’s track, “Conflicted,” is set to be released with his album on La Bombe sometime in 2012 and judging by this track it is definitely an album I will be buying. Conflicted sounds like if Justice met Fred Falke, and they had a beautiful child together. The best part? La Bombe is giving the track away for free! Check out the track below and go and like Surrender and La Bombe on Facebook.

There are songs that are so electric, melodies so catchy, synths so dreamy, that they are impossible to stop from bouncing around the Hive. Visitor, a “French Touch” act out of London, seems to understand what the Electric Hive Electronic Music Blog considers music that no matter how much we listen to, keeps resonating as something better than the rest. Every track they put out is an instant purchase, and their smooth disco infused synths are a highlight of my morning commute. For all you living in Los Angeles, you understand the necessity of something to cheer you up when you are “parked” on the 405.
Visitor releases their tracks on Vulture Music, the record label started by the one and only Alan Braxe. Vulture Music knows what Disco revivement is all about, catchy melodies with high melodic synths. Considered to be “French Touch”, the sounds mimic a combination Disco and French House.
Visitor is working on finishing up their debut EP, but we got our hands on some sweet tracks to hold you over.

Australian producer Dcup, partially responsible for 2010′s most popular dance song, “We No Speak Americano,” seems to have been hiding from EDM world since that release. He’s put out a few tracks but nothing even close to the level of impact that his previous release with Yolanda Be Cool had. I was just looking on his Soundcloud page and found two absolutely wonderful mixes he did, which he calls Kittens Pt 1 and Kittens Pt 2. Part 1 is around half an hour of smooth, sexy, slow Nu Disco that I must admit I was a little bit turned on listening to. Part 2 speeds up the tempo a little bit and focuses on Disco House mainly. I’m really impressed by both of these mixes and going to be following Dcup a little more closely now.

As our Electronic Music Blog starts to expand, i plan on taking time to introduce the hive to more and more genres. For today, that means i am expanding our cred as a reliable Nu Disco Blog. I love the genre, but i know many can think it is a little too soft for dance floors. Well, not all Nu Disco must sound like a reincarnation of those “crazy” parties your parents once had. As the Nu Disco genre expands, it was only a matter of time before someone started infusing some darker elements. Well leave it to Germans, who have incorporated some Fred Falke french touch with a German twist on Nu Disco. This group, “Final Dj’s” are skyrocketing to fame as the “Boys Noize” of Nu Disco. No longer do I feel like i am trapped in a John Hughes movie while getting my 70′s vibe on, and these tracks could keep any dance floor popping. (As a side note, I am an 80′s kids and love John Hughes movies)
Make sure to head over to their Soundcloud for more tracks!

Classixx
Here’s another “just because” Nu Disco posting for you all. This one came out in ’09 but still is a great, feel-good summer track even now in 2011. The group is Classixx and the song is “I’ll Get You,” which samples the line “Do You Like Bass” featured in tons of EDM songs. This production/DJ duo from Los Angeles are at the forefront of this genre, often taking classic tunes and samples and putting their own creative and funky twist on them.

Up and coming artists in electronic music today seem to be getting younger and younger, but the quality of the work they are producing is getting better and better, creating an interesting paradox. How are these young guys making music of such quality work, such attention to detail without years of experience? Unfortunately, I do not have an answer for you. But what I do have, is Madeon. Madeon is a 17 (yes, seventeen) year old producer hailing from Nantes, France. His French House twist on the Nu Disco sound is exactly what your ears have been yearning for. This kid has some serious tech-skills to. In this video below, he does a live mashup of 39 songs that’s good enough to be a release on its own. To quote Maedon, “This is a little idea i’ve been playing around with to implement in my set, hope you like it.” If this is just “a little idea” he has, I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next. Check out the video and tracks below to see what all the fuss is about.
